probably just the instinctive reaction to something that is running, possibly exacerbated by continuing to run when it was time to turn around and face down the threat.
Good. thinking! Elmer
A wild animal is WILD. A predator is a PREDATOR !
As Mr.Fudd stated "running set's off a reaction".
Sorry for her familys loss though.
Most coyotes will run in the opposite direction once they see a human being.
My guess would be that this particular coyote's parent had mated with a domesticated dog, hence; losing it's natural fear of man.
I can almost guarantee that there are no coyotes around my place that have no fear of man or big dog. Like Clay said in another post, "Gone to the Land of Yodel".
I cant believe the amount of coyote sign ive seen in the last few days...tracks and scat everywhere and even hearing them howling on the ridgetops around me as I was hare hunting through the swampy bottoms. We are on the hare population boom here and this is most likely boosting yote numbers.I have 5 or 6 sizable farms that I can coyote hunt on after deer season ends, and I am thinking if the snow isnt too deep it should be a good winter to flatten some yotes.
It's always a good time to kill a yote!
