It should do everything you need it to. I have an eTrex Legend (it's a less advanced model) and it does a pretty good job of getting me in and out of the woods.
If you can, get the package deal with the MapSource software. MapSource can work in conjunction with Google Earth, which makes it a very valuable piece of software.
A final note, NEVER completely rely on a GPS unit when going into the woods...nothing is more important than having a map and compass and knowing how to use them because GPS units can malfunction, fail to acquire satellites, or the batteries could die (always bring some extra batteries). Good luck!
I have a Venture HC (not sure what an HCa is). Works great, even in heavy canopy and bad weather. Definitely get additional Mapsource topo and road maps ... worth the money. Could use more memory - just have to download to the PC every once in awhile.
