If you've been hunting and know about gun safety and hunting safety in general then you should be fine. Some advice that will help you out is try to be as quiet as possible and no unnecessary movements. If you can get some human scent eliminating spray I would highly recommend it. I use dead down wind's E3. It works pretty good. Good Luck.

Wear orange and plenty of it. Whitetail can't see it anyway. Play the wind and be quiet.

The mod barrel should be fine with slugs make sure you target shoot it before you go hunting with the same ammo diff ammo shoots diff.pay attention to the wind scout and look for food and trails going to it watch the trails a slug gun isnt a long range weapon,be safe and enjoy your time afield

all i can tell you is to be sure what your target is before you pull the trigger once you pull that trigger you cant take it back if you make the wrong decision you will have to live with it the rest of your life so dont let your first deer season be a bad life exsperience make it be a good one to remember just be sure of your target if you cant tell or have any dought dont shoot there will be another time and day to take a deer good luck..

DO NOT SHOOT AT MOVEMENT ! ! !
As your a "bird guy" you should be O.K. for the most part. Just paly the wind(in your face/sun at your back). Try to have a good time out there !
Good Luck, Good Hunting, and Welcome to the "family".
