Heres a scenario... You are in your house and here someone trying to kick in your door. You quickly run to your gun cabinet (or other hidden spot) and grab a gun. Which gun did you grab?

The first one I grab is my trusty side by side. She is a old Savage trimmed down to a nice and clean 18.5 inches. There is both 00 buck and slugs tucked into the sleeve on her stock. I would also grab my 1911 Taurus that is right next to her. She is packed with laser grips and 230 grains of .45 cal jacketed hydra-shocks. Hope I never need them but they are there in case!
12 gauge pump with alternating double ought buck and brenneke slugs...I also carry the 12ga as personal bear protection when its salmon time, except that I use only slugs then...
12ga. pump w/extra full turkey choke and hand load duplex(4x6). cause' EVERYBODY from 4 to 100 knows EXACTLY what that sound is and can guess what's next.
i would grab my 12 gauge with a bird barrel on it because i still haven't fired it yet, but also my dads 12 gauge with a scope and slug barrel on it in case they decide to run away.
Glock 23 with 14 180 Grain Hydrashoks. If time permitted I would also pocket my Taurus .357 with the 2" barrel. If the guy was really having trouble getting that door down I would get my 870 and fill it up with copper plated pheasant loads.
Long gun Berretta Semi Auto 12 gauge with Hornady TAP buckshot loads. Keep a bandoleer with the gun with various buckshot and slug loads. Pistol is a Berretta Storm 9mm with insight technology M3 ligt, 20rnd mags loaded with hand loads of Hornady XTP's.
Gun? I'm going for my wakisashi sword! 2 feet of folded steel, razor sharp wielded by a half naked screaming angry homeowner ought to leave the intruder in a puddle on the floor (is the puddle red or yellow?) Besides I been training in the Budo for more than a decade, Iaido is my way. I'd have to undo the locks on the .45 or the Mossberg 12, this being Mass.
I can get my hand on the blade faster than on a gun grip. anybody uninvited might get sliced and diced (nothing quite like that Sogiri kata).
I'd be holding a Rem. 870 youth 20ga with 5 rounds of #6 shot full choke. This is my house gun. Out on the streets I'm carrying my S&W 9mm, 17 rounds in the gun, spare 16 round clip in the holster.

I would grab a twelve gauge because most people who would break into a house knows you can get multiple high powered shots from a twelve gauge.
Which ever one is loaded and I'm hoping it's the 870. If they don't run at the slide racking I'm giving them hell.
I grab my Glock .40, If i have time i also grab my 12 ga. loaded with buckshot, but the Glock is more manueverable in tight spaces.

Either a Rem 870 12 gauge or the Kimber .45 ACP, depending on where I am when I become aware of it and which one is "good to go".
