i think because its not that popular plus were trying to have a good image (sportsmen) and i think most people feel trapping is much worse than hunting because the animal usually suffers (i am not against it im just telling you what i think)
Trapping has fallen out of favor with the hunting crowd a little and with the general population a great deal. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong at all with trapping and it is essential in some instances. I have a large beaver dam on my property that we actually imported beaver to build and maintain. The problem comes with their ability to reproduce. I have to allow limited trapping to control the population. It works to perfection because the trappers are a conscientious group of men who are concerned about the animals they pursue and take care not to take more than they have to. I agree with COONER(once again) about Fur Fish and Game. Great magazine and I've never set a trap in my life.
The fur industry has taken a beating from the many people who live in the great metropolitan areas of our country. Most do not view fur bearing animals as a replenishable natural resource and they don't view fur as necessary for protection from the cold. Therefore it has fallen in disfavor across the country. This may change over time but at present not as many people are trapping and not as many people are buying furs. Fur prices are way down. I used to trap and I raised mink... I can't make a living doing that now.
I started getting into trapping this past year and read fur fish and game a bit which is almost all trapping but a small segment in F&S wouldn't be bad either.
