How do I opt out of face book? It's stupid, I did it to keep in better touch with my son. I'm sorry I did, he can call or e-mail. I want out but don't know how.
Signed, To old for this crap.
go to the top right corner, click on "Account", scroll down to "Acciount Settings", this will take you to another page. At the bottom it should say "Deactivate account".
My gf and I looked at doing that tonight but didn't know how either. By the way, after your FB account is removed the FB administrator holds your info for 4 years. Not sure why. Maybe legal reasons.
It's stupid, I deactivated my account bout a year ago and it says that if you ever want to reactivate it all you have to do is sign in using your old username and password and everything will go back to normal. I don't like the idea of that.
I HATE TECHNOLOGY!
Jim,
I was invited or encouraged to get a FaceBook account by my daughter and son, since they left cryptic messages almost daily. In short order, the situation mushroomed to more than 50 other people. Brief messages or comments from my kids are dwarfed by nonsense and rubbish from other well-intended people!
I'm considering canceling or deactivating it myself.

I just told everyone on FB I do not respond to requests and after a few weeks I no longer get all the annoying join my cause crap. It is nice to use for keeping in touch. Ishawooa and I have been using it to keep in touch. Don't know why he does not come on here anymore. Asked him that very ? a few minutes ago.
There is a site called camospace.com that may be better suited for our needs. It's membership consists of hunters and fishermen, and there is a great collection of user photos that might come close to rivaling the collection here. I joined about a month ago and just sat on it, waiting to see if any junk would start popping up like on FB. So far, I have only recieved a few friend requests and 1 harvest quota request. The harvest quota request came from a gentleman that is doing research on deer hunting, and is compiling data from across the nation on this past season's harvest. Pretty neat really.
Jim ,I think your posting your feelings about Facebook on the wrong venue. You need to post it on your facebook that way your son will know how to get a hold of you. That way you can just walk away.We never joined,my sister in law did and she calls with all the updates of our kids and their cousins. Most of it we hear on the phone from them and the rest was off handed crap they put on there for someone elses benifit. The only benifit I can see for the site is to post photos, but you still have to e-mail the full sized files for reprint.
Yuo can control who you get messages from by going to privacy and clicking "Friends only" and Deleting people you do not want on your friends list, Used properly it a good tool, otherwise it just a pain in the tuchas.
