thats a definite no. if i ever got caught with a knife at my school i would most likely be expelled, my school district makes a big deal of everything and blow it out of proportion. but i dont live in a hunting community i live in a city so we have these cool gang members hanging around so i can understand but i do not carry my knife with me most places i go since i live in the city
taking any type of weapon to school is grounds for explusion of 180 days or more depending on the school district. i.e. a fingernail clipper with a knife, a swiss army knife, or a steak knife are all seen as "knives." Weapons on school grounds i.e. your bow and gun locked in a case so you can go hunt sooner after school is a thing of the past as is walking to school and hunting at same time...give thanks to the Columbine duo who brought in many strict rules and Zero tolernace.
Gang members: how do you know they are Gang members and not just imposters? Are they wearing select colors at school...that to has been monitored, and can be suspened for yep 180 days, these are level 4 suspensions and ususally require a meeting in front of the school board. Oh 180 days is a calender year of school.
So good luck with carrying your "old timer" I hope you dont get expelled and loose teh knife, or that you carry it for protection at school. ):
I'm sure your HS has policies against any type of weapon. Why would you risk getting expelled? What possible reason do you have for carrying the knife to school? You're risking your future if they catch you. If you're considering college and have a weapons charge on your schools records, I'd guess you're not getting in regardless of GPA. Employers ask for HS transcripts/records and do background checks so even if you're not going to college you may not get the job you want. I'd highly recommend not rolling the dice... It's not worth it!
It's sad that this is the condition that we see ourselves in today. Things were certainly different when I went to high school. My brother and I would get on the bus with our rifles in cases and leave them by the front with Bud the driver. As soon as we got to school we would take them to the principals office and lay them down on the pile with the other cased rifles. Then some kids parent would pick us up to go where we would hunt that afternoon. No fears, no threats, no expulsions and simply no cause for alarm. It wasn't long after I left high school that this policy was changed, not because of an issue but because a single mother from the city was mortified that this policy was in place.
libertyfirst, I agree, was different times when I grew up too. Our school let us off the 1st day of small game season, thats not the case now. When I was in college I kept all my hunting gear and a 12 gauge shotgun in my room. The "back forty" of the campus was not developed and the bunny hunting was fantastic. The college knew we hunted it and and no problem with hunting or keeping the guns on campus. Try that now and you'd be in the slammer.
It was the same way for us. We'd check out guns at the office, and when school was out we'd pick 'em up and go hunting, or shooting with whatever club or school function. Knives were OK as long as it was a folder that would fit completely in your pocket. And if you drove to school it was OK to keep your guns in your vehicle. Times sure have changed.
we aint suspose to carry knifes to our school but some of us do if you get caught with one you will just get it took away if its over 3in you will get suspended or worse and its smart to carry one there are to many mexicans and people that will jump you or try to rob you just ask buckmasters 02 or buckmasters199
Wow! I'm so glad that I grew up in more simple times and likewise glad that I no longer have school age kids. Way back when I was in school I won a spelling contest and my prize was a pocketknife that I proudly carried in school.
Just make sure you know how to use it before stepping up into that league. I suggest you train in an unarmed martial art form first, like Shotokan style.
