I myself had a year to fish cuba's own guantanamo bay. pay brigmarine no mind he's just upset that anytime they go anywhere they have to hitch a ride with the navy.

Too often I hear one Serviceman attack another for not being in the capacity of Service they were in. True, a lot of us including myself did not serve in combat, but we were there doing our duty with pride just the same. While some were in the front lines dogging bullets, some were at State Side fighting another front called the Cold War. These Service didn’t ask to be exposed to Class “A” poisons and Nuclear Weapons, but they did their job 2nd to none! In my book, there are two types of Combat deaths. One is a hard kill catching that Golden “BB” in a War Zone in some God forsaken place. Then there is the other Combat kill I call the Soft Kill. Those who succumbed to the Soft Kill was those fighting the Cold War being exposed to those Class “A” poisons and Nuclear weapons to later die a horrible paralyzing death like my Father. To watch him motionless for weeks unable to speak in excruciating pain dyeing. I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis like it happened today. My Father may not have been in Combat like you, he was in Korea during the War. But he was in that Titan II Missile Silo making sure that Bird will launch. To watch those Army Troops patrolling our Base during Desert Storm with more than a foot on the ground getting frostbite shrugging it off to continue their duty with honor and pride and the USS Cole, let’s not forget those Navy Men killed in cold blood. I have great respect regardless of Rank, regardless of Branch of Service and regardless of position and what your job was, somebody had to do it and I’m glad it was you and you did it with PRIDE! And to those of you who wore the Civilian Uniform, the Security Guards, Firemen, Policemen, EMT, Medical Community just to name a few my list is endless THANK YOU for your Service!

So get them fishy man!

Brig Marine,
As a brother, I ask you to operate with respect. Everyone on this forum has excellent reason to be proud of his uniform. Interservice rivalry has its place and, properly channeled, brings out the best in us. Poorly expressed, it accomplishes nothing and represents the Corps badly. I would feel proud if I were you. There is not a more honorable career to pursue in our country. Sure it is risky; sure it is difficult. But I'll bet that by the time you are done you will feel better about yourself than 90% of other Americans. Nothing of value to you will come without sacrifice. I thank you for making the tough choice and entering the service to our country. I am so proud of our armed forces right now. Although many past generations of military contributors have made supreme sacrifices and made our country what it is, I don't think our military has ever been as professional and as powerful as it is right now. I honor all branches of our armed forces equally. I know that there is inter-branch rivalry but when push comes to shove, they are all your brothers and they are all there to protect our freedom and continued well being. My best to you and my thanks and praise to you and all your military brethern, past and present. Since Navy bases are usually near water, I hope you get a little time over the 25 weeks to sneak a fishing expedition or two. I have fished off Great Lakes, Jacksonville and Pensacola and you will have great fishing at any of them if you get a chance.

My first post was maybe tryin to convince him to join the marine corps instead. Hes not even in the navy yet so why cant I persuade him. Every Marine is a rifleman and we are all trained to fight in combat not like the other branches where only spec ops gets to train for combat. They send Marines first to combat for a reason and thats cause we know how to fight! But since most of you bash me for what I say then so be it, most ppl dont support the military anyway so I have to be aggressive to support my decision to join the corps! Semper Fi

They feel there Country has deserted them and turned their backs on all of you. I have two Senators who if came across a Veteran laying face down on the sidewalk, they would step on their neck and keep walking, sad but fact!

You’re amongst friends and Brothers here Marine and I maybe just a 2nd Generation Air Force, but let it known, I’m putting up one hell of a fight for the Veterans including you!

You feel loyal to the Corps and this Country has turned its back on you, am I right?
