Wow, very nice shot.

How do you like the 700 sps tactical? I was pondering getting the sps tactical or Tikka T3 super varmit. How accurate are you with the gun at 100 yards?

at 100 yards i can cover a 5 shot group with a nickle, i took a picture of the group but i dont know if i still have it, if i do ill post it. as far as the gun i love it. its a little heavy because of the bull barrel. but top it with a good scope and you can shoot 500+ yards with the 223 and 1000 yards with the 308.

Wow thats some good shooting. I would probably get one in .223 cause I need a good coyote gun. If you don't mind me asking, How much did your sps tactical cost?

300 yards is a good shot on a crow.

lovetohunt i got mine at a gun show and paid $400 for it. it was basically a new rifle haveing about 20 rounds through it before i got it. this last weekend at the gun show i saw 2 just like it, they were asking $500. i can buy them new whole sale for $519 + tax + shipping + what your FFL dealer charges to receive. so ordering brand new from a store $600 including tax, shipping, and receiveing. at a gun show $400-500.

also if you dont have your mind set on a SPS tactical, i would look at the new Remington 700 VTR in 223. they have a little longer barrel 24inch compensated heavy barrel as opposed to 20inch bull barrel. they both have the X-PRO trigger which is a great trigger. it comes down to which feels better, i chose the SPS because i wanted a shorter rifle, but if your going after coyotes a longer barrel will generally be better. but most important top it with good glass, if you buy a $500 rifle but only a $40 scope you wont get the groups or ranges you want, im a huge fan on Nikon, i only have a nikon 3-9x40 on mine at the moment, but im going to go a little higher power as soon as i can afford it. i hope this helped, maybe i can get a job at Remington or Nikon after pushing there products so much.

Kolbster, I got to thinking and I might want one in .308 win. That way I can shoot deer and coyotes with it. But the .308 will destroy a coyote. Plus I think a shorter barrel will be better in tight spots sittingon the ground.

if you want to shoot deer then i would go with the 308, if your wanting to save the coyote hides the 308 wont do to good it will leave a massive exit hole. and destroy pretty well everything. so if its just for hunting and pest control ( coyotes ) go with a 308. but if you plan on keeping any hides then i would still go with the 223.

I've shot coyotes with a .308 and it has destroyed pelts when I used bullets that expand rapidly, but I used 168gr. Barnes TSX on the last few and was suprised to find the exit holes pretty small. I would suggest giving those a try if you want a .308, also if you use that bullet you can have one load for all animals and don't have to switch out loads for a given game animal.
