That sums up my whole season so far. Few sightings and no shots made available. Others have harvested a handful on that plot, but I keep striking out. Constant battle of wrong place wrong time I guess. Hate to think I'm doing anything THAT wrong!

Not only did I get skunked but I got kicked in the groin - twice. A buck I have been after got to his spot before me. I didn't see him until he was heading for the popples. That's what I get for leaving my binocs on the kitchen counter.

Another morning went the long way around to a new stand location. There's a pond nearby. I never thought about the beavers. They let everything in earshot know I was there and kept at it. I might just take up trapping this winter. A couple of beaver pelts would look satisfying on a friend's cabin wall.

Had a 2 within bow range on opening day but they hung out behind a sweet gum tree so I couldnt get a clean shot.

Had 5 on a different day walk in front of me prior to shooting light as I was waiting to go to my stand. They white flagged over a noise and high tailed it.

That was my first Archery season

Deer do not move much in falling rain. Right after the rain stops is a good time to be in the woods as they usually start feeding then. Some days I see nothing and on others well, saw 4 bucks and 3 does one day last month during the ML season.Last night I went out for a couple hours saw 2 fawns in neighbors driveway but nothing in the woods. It is what it is and that is why its called hunting instead of shooting. Have fun hunting regardless. The unsuccessful days make the successful days sweeter.
