Q:
I've heard people say "You get what you pay for it" I bought a 8 dollar pair of Out fitter's ridge at wal mart. They say they are water proof and wind proof. They do all of that. I think I made a good buy. So that statement isn't always true. What do you think.

In some situations that can be true but when it comes to hunting equipment its all trial and error i will admit i paid some prices on certain things that didnt work as good as the cheaper versions but ive also went cheap and wished i wouldnt have thats why we as hunters field test items so that we all know whats good and whats not.

I think it depends on what brand it is and why the price was so low. Why was the price so Low?

Agreed. I bought a nice pair of Remington branded gloves in Natural Gear camo a couple of years ago in Wal-mart for less than $10 after the season. They were the best gloves for the price I have ever used. I'm still looking for the one I lost! LOL

They're probably cheap because the foreign labor that made them didn't get much of a cut. I am not busting on you, though; a lot of my equipment is from WalMart.

i say "you get what you paid for" when it is something substantial, like a gun or a bow. but in cases like golf clubs, for example, you could have the bran-new-tiger-woods-nike clubs that cost $1500 and still suck at golf, while i beat you with my grandpa's old wooden clubs. So there is some limitations to that term, but not for a pair of gloves, just get the cheaper ones that seem the nicest to you.

I have to say I buy alot of little things for hunting and fishing at wal mart. Great prices. Some things you do have to pay a bit more to get the right stuff still. I dont scrimp on my boots and long johns though!

I always buy boots clothing and sox at clearance prices once the GOOD stuff cheaper than the schlock at Wally-world. Scored a NEW Pair of Sorels in my size for 39.95 At Cabelas tent sale last year. And new Browning boots this year for 29.95 this year. Gotta admit I buy ammo there at Wally's tho.
