I've seen one female fox with her kittens and one lone fox that had a nasty looking coat, I would guess the mange. We don't have a early season here in Maine so fox are not fair game. Very enjoyable to see the young kittens.

I did not even consider that this fox may have been shot out of season. Hunter- do you have a open season on fox at this time of year? It would seem to me to be unusual if you did.
Fox are rare down here, I'll see about 2-3 a year MAYBE. They are great hunters and good looking animals. Unless they are being a nuisance or bothering something around your house I'd recomend not shooting them and just watching them, they're pretty entertaining.
When I lived in Englewood, Co. Had one that lived in the neighborhood and would come down the sreet to "play" with my Min. Pin.
Seen 3 "reds" one gray, scince I moved back to Ark.

Seen a few reds. Just watched it try and stalk a mouse or something. Pretty cool.
None here yet. Good sight!

why in the world would you shoot a fox during the summer. Their fur it not worth anything and I'd be willing to bet fox season is not even in season.
Why would you kill something just to kill it?
BTW, there is no such word as "foxes"; the correct syntax is just "fox".

I can't imagine it would be fox season anywhere.
I think you have to wait till about November for fox season.
