depends what kind of game?
this is for any kind of hunting
Don't worry about what they say. I have already skipped one full day to go hunting and have left school early about three times now also. I think I'm might get to miss another day in january also for late season deer firearms. My friend also does the same thing and has probably missed 5 days. But we can say this because we both get straight A's. So, have fun hunting and good luck.
well i am in the same boat i get all A's and all that and whats bad is not only the kids know about this but the teachers even know and plus my mom is a teacher
Once or twice a year isn't a bad idea. They let sports out early at my school. They may have a form you can fill out too for educational trips its amazing what hunting can teach you about nature. I used the form every year to get excused for hunting camp for a week. I treasure those memories now thay I'm older.
I used to take off a few days a year for special hunting and fishing trips with dad. Then by myself when I got a bit older. Dont go crazy and take off weeks at a time. If you think about it there are people who take off 2-3 days just cause they dont want to go to work/school! Do your best at what you do and make up for lost time. If possible find out whats gonna be covered and do it early. Keep up the same when you get into the workforce. It will go along way
I would take off days for deer and maybe like pheasant but not anything else
Before there were schools, nature was our teacher. I too was a straight A student that had a great passion for the outdoors, and often skipped school to go hunting. Personally, I would rather see kids skipping school to go hunting and spending a day outdoors than sitting inside all day playing video games. Don't ever lose your passion for the outdoors!
Your friends don’t have a clue what they’re talking about!
When I take my Grandson Alex out, it’s just as when my Father taken me out of school to go hunting. If going out just to shoot something is all they know, they don’t have a clue. Alex learns Orienteering, Survival, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Firearm Safety, ATV Safety, The use of tools and Mechanics and patients to remain still unlike those in class that can’t, LOL! Above all, it’s not wither or not you shot something, what did you learn and see and how much you enjoyed it.
There is a lot to learn when one goes hunting and it all depends what you learned!
One thing Alex learned on one of the rainiest days, never argue with your Papa Clay. He said there were no Elk in Arkansas and we swooped over 15ish miles away and counted over 50 Elk.
If you're geting good grades I dont think it hurts one bit, and we arn't talking about missing every day of deer season or something crazy like that but a day or two thats nothing serious at all, skip school go hunting and forget what they say
their just jealous!
My son missed a lot of school to hunt and he was the President of the National Honor Society. I am also blessed to live in a district where school is closed for the first day of gun season.
i wished that happened hear that would be sweet
tht wood be fine
yea i get to skip school to go hunting but i have to have all my grades up and every thing turned in.
I am a staight A student and get to miss 2-3 days a year for deer hunting. This year I missed three days for deer firearm season. But I am only allowed to go if I have good grades. I try to get most of my work before hand so I can spend more time in the woods. I only miss for deer hunting though. I usually go small game hunting on weekends or the week breaks we get. And besides, you learn a lot from hunting.
Sorry to be the contrarian here, but truancy from obligations is a poor lesson for young people to learn, regardless of their grades, and regardless of how much they are supposedly learning away from school.
every year i took off opening day and as many other days as my parents would let me
......maybe invite your friends to go along too!
(if they're gun-qualified)
99explorer...we should agree to disagree on this one. I respect your opinion, and you do make a valid point, truancy isn't something that should be encouraged...but when it comes to kids getting outdoors and enjoying nature in any form, then I'm all for it. Are you much of a reader? If so, I would suggest reading Last Child in the Woods, by Richard Louv. It's a book about how today's children are completely disconnected from nature. I'm basing my opinion on one book that I've read, but on personal observation as well...the book just makes you more aware of it. I rarely see kids playing outside anymore. There are even TV commercials and youth programs encouraging kids to get outdoors and play for an hour a day! AN HOUR! To me that seems obsurd! Is today's youth so busy that they cannot get outside for more than an hour? Growing up, I remember kids being outside every chance they could get. Some things just cannot be learned in a classroom, they need to be experienced...nature is one of them.
I'm NOT basing my opinion....typo...sorry :-).
I skip school all the time to hunt. I missed a few days of school for rifle season this year. It's a tradition in my house for me and my brother to skip school to hunt on the opening day of rifle and bow season.
As long as you have good grades and don't abuse it its ok
My parents will let me skip a day or two for deer if my grades are really good (all A's.) I think it should totally depend on how your kid is doing in school. They should have to earn it.
