Q:
Stone Honors Fallen Soldiers!!!The Medal of Honor recipient's actions were depicted in "Black Hawk Down" was remembered yesterday during a ceremony at the Airborne And Special Operations Museum. It was dedicated to SFC Randall Shughart and MSG Gary Gordon. On October 3, 1993, the two snipers were providing suppressive fire from a helicopter at a Black hawk crash site when they learned ground troops were not available to assist four injured soldiers. The men pulled the helicopter's crew from the wreckage and began shooting at their attackers to try to hold them off. But their actions saved the life of pilot Mike Durant, though he was held hostage for eleven days. Shughart's father, sister and widow unveiled the paver, which summarized Shughart's actions in Somalia. None of the family members spoke during the ceremony or during an emotional rendition of taps. "Whatever we say and do today with this, stone will be inadequate to reflect his service", said Brigadier General Michael S. Repass, commander of the Special Forces. "But it is what we can do, and it is here with his brothers, in this community".

True heroism in the form of two men that gave it all so another man could live. No one ordered those men to go in after the crash, it was their choice. Thank GOD for men like those!
