Q:
Well folks i believe i may have gotten the first deer of the season. It was supposed to be a doe but it was a 8 pointer with 2 more nubs on the right antler. He was facing me and i shot him right throught the middle of the chest through a lung and out his side.

Dang, I've got a month and a half to wait before i can go hunting with a bow, much less a rifle. our archery season start Oct 1, and gun on Nov 20. Hopefully bow season will be a little cooler this year.

no one is asking the OBVIOUS question which is: how do you mistake an 8 pt for a doe?

from Elmer Fudd wrote 2 years 25 weeks ago

hey, I'm not turning anybody in, but this saga is going like this to me:

"it was supposed to be doe season, but I shot a buck, then the question is how was it even doe season?"

Maybe there is an answer, like if deer are messing up your crops you can kill those, but it seems to me we need to hear what the explanation is.

Sorry for leaving you hanging but i only have pics on my phone and cant get those on the computer tand then they are only of the antlers. As to the legality issue. Dont worry. I have out of season permits because of crop damage. You can shoot does or bucks but a buck has to have the antlers turned into the dnr. As to mistaking it for a doe it was in full velvet against a timbered backdrop about a hundred yards away. He was about 2 so his futers such as nose and neck were indistinguishable from a does. Sorry if i worried you about being illegal. Like you guys are youth doesnt start until mid september
