Very early. I began fishing with my Dad at 3-4 years old. I began hunting with him at 5 using a .22 for squirrel.
I do not favor one over the other as I enjoy each equally.
I started fishing as soon as I was capable. I lived on a lake so it was a daily occurence. I also started hunting as soon as possible. I do prefer hunting over fishing though.
5 or 6 I started snaring rabbit, but couldnt take a gun til I was 10(provincal law), used to strap on my little plastic snowshoes and carry a "knocker", which is basically a 4 foot hardwood dowel with a large steel nut secured to one end.Any bunnies not dead in my snares got a solid whack to the head to finish them off.
I hit the 1/2 century mark this summer, and I honestly don't remember ever not being interested in hunting. I hunted all sorts of grand beasts in the house before I was old enough to really get outside and used to cut animal pictures out of dad's old Sports Afield magazines and glue them to a cardboard box for a bb gun target. Fishing soon followed, I always say that I only fish when I can't hunt, or vice-versa, depending on the season. I would not want to have to choose, it's like a big steak vs. a nice seafood buffet, I like them both.
I've fished since I was old enough to do so...probably 4. I went hunting with my dad even before I was old enough to carry a gun, just to be in the woods and learn, which was probably a few years later...7 years old.
I prefer hunting. I have been interested in hunting and fishing my whole life. I didnt start hunting till i was 12 because in PA that used to be the minimum age requirement.
My dad would take me "hunting" in the afternoons as a toddler after he came in from his morning hunt. My first real deer season "when I was allowed to shoot" came after my ninth birthday. I Cant remember when I began fishing but its always been a big part of my life. I love both sports, but the woods call to me much louder, each year when those leaves start falling, than the water ever has.
I like to do them both but if I had to pick, it would be hunting. I began hunting at about 4-5 years of age with a BB gun and by the time I went to first grade, I used a .22 for squirrels and rabbits. I got a shotgun when I was 12 and started pheasant hunting almost every day during pheasant season. I think that there is a certain excitement from the anticipation of stalking game that you see that you don't get from fishing. However, getting a big fish when you least expect it is still pretty exciting.
Some of my earliest memories are of my father telling me turkey hunting tales for my bedtime stories. He took me fishing as soon as I was old enough not to eat the bait and gave my my first gun when I was ten.
I've never lost my enthusiasm.
i like hunting and fishing but i would have to go with hunting! i've been interested in hunting for as long as i can remember probably aroung 11 or 12 years old which is not very long ago i turn 17 in November.
started fishing really young...probably 3 years old. I don't know which I like more, but I seem to spend the most money each year on hunting, so based on that, I probably like hunting more :-)

I began hunting as far back as I can remember. First in my imagination, then with my father, then by myself as a very small child.
