In my corner of Oregon, it's about 25-30 yards for tree squirrels and 50 yards (max) for ground squirrels. My .22WMR is sighted for 50 yards and it serves me well.

If by squrils you mean squirrels, I would sight in at about 25 yards since that is about the average shot.
20-30 yrds is usually about what I shoot in the woods.
I sight my .22 LR in for 50 yards.
