I would also take a .22, but if you don't have one then I would go with the pellet gun with pointed tips. Either will do the trick with close shots placed well.
Pellet rifles are sweet. They are cheap, aesy to get, aesy to maintain, powerful enough to take any squirrel any day, and quiet enought to shoot out your parents bedroom window while they are sleeping (just trust me on that one) but it's preference
The question asks "What is better". Safety is a consideration too. A .22LR can carry a LONG distance. The shot angle that's usually employed when hunting squirrels is naturally one that will carry a long way and come down???? The Safer weapon is the air rifle. Blake425 uses a Gamo Varmint Hunter. That's an excelent choice and you likely won't have an accident that could be tragic. The air gun is the best choice.

Personally, I like to take out the .22 when I'm squirrel hunting.

I'd take a .22 but there like the same thing.
I meant air rifle and bb gun are the same
Air Rifle and Pellet gun are the same thing. .22's are golden for squirrel.
22 will work best, but i have shot plenty of squirrels with a pellet gun.

air rifles and pellet guns are the same thing but a high powered airrifle will work great for squirrel hunting.
