Brush piles are a good start. They also like the cover of black berries (and food). I used to hunt them where there was a lot of blackberry bushes and they were safe in there from predators, including myself.
ya ever seen a quall coup? you raise them in it and then they start to raise their own and it acts as a personal nest.
I ve only seen this in theory never seen in action.
Get rid of the turkeys.
Also, be very cautious about planting blackberry. That stuff is an exotic that will overrun the place. There may be regulations in place in your vicinity regarding this nuisance.
Good point OH, I should have included that about the blackberry. Whats the reasoning behind the turkey removal though????
Several folks have told me they're death on quail eggs. Anybody else heard that. Also, they're experts at stripping the underbrush needed for cover and feed.
Well, mark your calendars! I made a mistake. Turkeys attacking quail seems to be something of a popular fairy tale. Check out this publication by Missouri game department: http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/Documents/260.pdf
Sorry for this misinformation (big word that means "BS").
hey oh do you live in missouri?if so what part?
Here's a link to a site that gets into how to improve quail habitat:

No bobcat. I live in Ontario, Canada. I found that Missouri piece on line.
