Both trap and skeet use the same target. In skeet you move around a half circle and shoot a certain amount of shot from each of, I believe, seven stations for a total of 25 shots. The targets travel away from you, toward you,and in front of you and over your head all from the same two fixed traps. Each target appears to be totally different because of the location of the different stations. In trap, there is only one throwing station and that station is in front of you and the targets are flying away from you at different angles. It's been a long time but I seem to remember five shooting stations. Skeet shooting is pretty close range shooting and you usually use a open choke shotgun. Trap requires a much tighter choke, because the ranges are longer, and I feel that it is the tougher of the two sports. I haven't shot either one for over 40 years. I remember skeet being a lot of fun!

Trap is when they are shot out in front of you at different angles heading away. Skeet are shot passing above and across.

From http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2001/07/10.htm

In skeet, shooters fire from eight different stations positioned around a half-circle. The targets cross in front of the shooters from either side of the front of the half-circle. On some stations, shooters fire at one target flying from the left, and another flying from the right. On other stations, they have to shoot at two targets that fly from both directions at the same time.

Trap shooters stand at one of five stations located on a much narrower arc behind a single hidden thrower. From there they fire at targets that zip away at unpredictable angles.

easy, hard and very hard
Trap is always going away from you at a given speed.
Skeet, you have clay that fly at you away from you and crossing in both directions.

trap- well i go shooting once or twice and week. skeet has 8 station that birds eye view would fill half a cirlce besides the 8th station thats in the middle between the low and high house. theres two houses the low and the high. you always shoot the higher house first then the lower and then doubles ( doubles are only on station's 1,2,6,7. its a great sport. trap on the other hand is one house that throws the birds away from you and you dont know where their going. in skeey their always suppose to go over the stake in the center of the feild. trap you shoot the bird going away from you and its a farther shot then skeet. Hope i helped....
