My dad bought me a used mod 12 12 gauge from a pawn shop in 1965. It will be in the blind with me this year just like it has been every year since then. 44 years for $50, not a bad deal.
Hey cooner my fgirst was also a Savage 22. But it was also a 410 shotgun. What I mean is it was a Savage Model 24 22LR/410bore combo-gun. I have killed many a coon and opossum withit and I can get 4-inch groups at 100 yards with it. It is one of the most beutiful guns I have.
Custom 25-06 Improved on M98 Mauser action in 1967. Now on fourth barrel and still shooting strong over 40,000 rounds later. Lots of game piled up over the decades and probably over a ton or two of paper in the many targets I've shot. I'm sure that its also got several tons of rocks to its credit. The barrels didn't go easy; I really had to shoot them a lot to wear them out.
It was a J.C. Higgins single shot, bolt action .22 rimfire rifle (made by Marlin), purchased from Sears, Roebuck & Company for $21...money I'd saved over time...and it served me well. That was over 47 years ago.
