My wife usually provides me with a small bag of NutriGrain bars, trail mix, and freeze-dried peanuts. I also keep a few candy bars, dehydrated fruit rolls, jelly beans or other munchies in my vehicle (as well as two quart canteens of water).
For hunting;
The most I ever take is trailmix, jerky and a pint of water in a whiskey flask (it form fits to my butt in my back pocket). If I'm going to spend the majority of the day out I'll stash a peanut butter and jelly sandwich somewhere I won't sit on it.
As far as my favorite outdoor snack;
BBQ pork steaks, brats etc.
Venison jerky on the water and when im hunting, before we go out, we make biscuits and fry little pieces of ham and snack on them in the stand. The are great and even better cold.
