My wife usually provides me with a small bag of NutriGrain bars, trail mix, and freeze-dried peanuts. I also keep a few candy bars, dehydrated fruit rolls, jelly beans or other munchies in my vehicle (as well as two quart canteens of water).

For hunting;
The most I ever take is trailmix, jerky and a pint of water in a whiskey flask (it form fits to my butt in my back pocket). If I'm going to spend the majority of the day out I'll stash a peanut butter and jelly sandwich somewhere I won't sit on it.
As far as my favorite outdoor snack;
BBQ pork steaks, brats etc.
