And I'm just cirious, where is it that you are already gun hunting this time of year. I Indiana, we still have over half a month to go before gun season starts.
Dang!! I thought i was reading my own story of what happened this weekend. Even though the probalility of me missing is 99.9 percent I still looked for over 8 hours for any sight or blood. Even hair. Nothhing, but the marks on the ground from when he ran off.
I normally use a bow, but this was my first deer on my cross hairs. It sucked to be me this weekend.
mind you I can hit 1 inch groups at 100 yards.
Just try to relax, pick a spot and squeeze that trigger. "Aim small miss small" if you cant hold steady for whatever reason its best not to let the lead fly.
hjohn new york's rifle season opened for us this past week end .
yes mopedfred it exist its not really a sickness but it is an adrenalin over load . talk to your self as your waiting for the shot dont stare at the rack of the animal and concentrate on the spot you want to hit when you fire .and remember to breath lol.
Definitely real. most people get excited and pull the trigger with their whole arm and therefore miss right or left(depending on if you are right or left handed). i had it happen to me a few years back on a nice 4 point mule deer. try to stay calm and squeeze the trigger dont pull it
I think it's most likely to hit you when there's more riding on the shot than just the shooting. First time out, camp competitiveness, somebody watching.
Great responses. I head out next week for a tripple threat. Quail, Deer, and Coyote. I'll think about what you all have said and relax, and wait for the best moment.
Thank you,
The rush of breath, shaking, etc is caused (IMO) by an adrenalin rush or something simular. It helps to have lots of deer sightings and when your chance comes to shoot a big buck don't look at the antlers pick a spot and shoot it. It's what make's hunting so much fun. Last month I sat next to Wesley R. while he shot his first buck ever and it was something to see. He was extremely excited but he still made the shot by following instructions.
yes there is such a thing called buck fever and its realy all in your mind but your emotions take over mixed excitement but there is different types one is where someone who cant beleive what they are looking at they try so hard to see a buck when it happens they freeze ive seen people do this especialy young kids then theres the one where it registers what your looking at but they think to much about the shot and tend to get shakey instead of sqeezing the trigger they jerk it the whole time looking at the horns and not consentrating on the shot thats my opinion on buck fever and when i was younger i had it.
it was terrible. At the end after the shot and everything was just quiet. I felt empty and dissapointed. I Looked just in case and when i was walking I even did a double take on some scrub piles thinking that there was something laying down there.
