Q:
Friends have asked me to keep you up to date on the two teen aged boys Pastor Dan and I mentor about hunting. Yesterday afternoon I drove down to visit with Wesley and Jon's parents while the boys were still in school. Their dad is still unemployed and mom takes care of her chickens and sells eggs. We had a nice talk and I let them know about the rifle, ammunition, scope and bow we are giving the boys. These folks are very grateful and wanted me to thank everyone again. Jon will be going to Army AIT this summer and Wesley has been keeping his grades up. Neither boy has had any time to hunt for sheds up to this point. I bought 22 dozen eggs and headed back to the city.
I noticed several crop fields along I-35 that still have not been harvested due to the weather. There was even a cornfield next to Wesley's house that was only about half picked. Looks like there was plenty of food to see the deer thru Winter. It sure leaves me with a good feeling that is hard to describe everytime we get together. For new folks you can go to message boards, click campfire, then Field and Stream's best hunting story contest week 3 to read past history on this story. Do you have any questions about the boys?

A few days ago you were asking about scopes for the boys. Did you get one? I might have one in the cabinet back at my folks. I can not remember if I sold it or not. I going back in a few weeks I will check then. Its not top of the line but if I find it you can have it. If you already got one or need another let me know.
I don't know you Del but you should be proud of what you are doing for these. You are a fine example of the American sportsman and a role model for members of this forum.
You're a true inspiration to us all, Del. I honestly hope to be able to do the same for young sportsmen when I'm settled in an area and can give back. As I'm sure you will confirm, there's certainly no reward as sweet as seeing the joy and excitment in young people introduced to the great outdoors in such a positive manner. Hats off to you sir.

Let me know if Happy doesn't come up with something out of his closet in the next week or two.

Del e-mail me. I can contribute a little cash. If I can't find a scope
Del,
What kind of scope are you looking for?
Thats awesome! I'm glad you could make them happy. You should be very proud of yourself. People like you give a good name to outdoorsmen and hunting.
Thanks for your help guys-here is where we are. The rifle is an entry level 50 caliber CVA in-line. I can't remember the name-not accura or Optima. Talked to Bee last night he knew it but I've forgotten again. Happy said he had something so I will wait to see what he comes up with. Heaven knows he has done plenty already. Happy Myles has a heart of gold. To my knowledge there are no scope rings or base but I can buy them at Bass pro in Olathe. I very much appreciate your good will and offers to help but right now we just about have what we need. Bill gave me a good supply of ammo for the boys. The gun is still at Bill's shop he said he was going to treat it with his coating products. I will keep in touch. We hesitate to ask for anything frivolous. To me thats like being a solicitor. Forgot to mention the parents and I decided that when the new bow arrives we will gift the old bow to another kid that wants a bow rather than sell it.
