Last night just before shooting hours ended I saw a mature buck that had already shed his antlers along with several does. I shot a large doe at 29 yds with a Rage 2 blade broadhead. Deer exploded out of there in every direction. After waiting a few min I exited my blind to search but it was getting dark fast and no blood was readily apparent. Had to wait until this morning to look for her. It started raining after midnight. Pastor Dan came along to help with the search. We soon found a matching set of sheds but get this. The left antler was from last year and the right looked like it had just been dropped. Anyway the doe changed directions after she ran and the rain washed away all the blood making her hard to find. We found her 130 steps from where she took the arrow which passed thru her gut. This is why I like Rage broadheads. When we rolled her over blood poured out both 3" wide holes. Do you think she would have gone down that fast with one of those 1" wide fixed blade 'heads? I don't think so.
