Don't own one but I've shot the hunting buddies a couple times even shot my first deer with it. It was love at first sight but shooting it made it even better! I want to get one someday!
I have Dad's in .300 Savage with the cartidge counter on the side of the receiver and the schnable forearm. I retired it years ago because of it's $$$ value and sentimental value. I took a few deer with it before that and it's a decisive whitetail stomper. Shame they didn't survive.
Its a yard sail(2009)I find a Savage 99-358 in Real bad
shape, I was told it got rund-over by a duel wheel truck, It need a New Stock & fore-end, rear sight,But-Plate,Blueing,Rusted to all get-out..All for the sum of $100.00,I knew the Bbl-Action was worth it,I paid the Old Lady...and drove to my shop and let the Boys in the back room work it over, they Laugh at me! Well $500.00
Dollars later, I Now Have the Slickest 99-358 Brush Gun Ever! New Stock&forend,Limbsaver Recoil Pad,Sand Blasted Bbl&action Powder Coated(do to the Rust) in a Satin Green,Cut the Bbl tip&Cround New Rear&Frount Sight, the Action was worked over,I will be putting a scope on it
this week a Weaver Steel-lite 3-6x32, its a Real good shooter,O'the Boys found a Walnut Stock from an A-Model
99,I have bean offerd $1,300 NOT FOR SAIL. that's my $.2cents
I have a .358 Win and a .300 Savage, both Model 99F. I have not killed anything with either, but I am taking the .358 elk hunting in case I get into another elk tracking exercise where a light rifle with iron sights would be handy. The .308 Win my son owns has whacked several deer and a bear. I have deer hunted in the timber with the .358, but not taken any shots with it in the 10 years I have owned it.
AJ, If yours is in .300 Savage, get yourself a box of 150 grain ammo and go get yourself a deer, you won't be disappointed. You can't beat them if you like a lever gun.
007,
Agreed. Almost any 150 grain SP will work great in a .300 Savage at the moderate velocities (2,700 fps +/-) of that cartridge. A good ol' Remington Core Lokt or Winchester Power Point in factory ammo or a Hornady 150 gr Spire Point Interlock handload are potent deer medicine. No need for bonded or premium bullets.

Ahh If only I had one to tell you about AJ. It's on my "wishlist". So what's your story or what brought this to mind for you?

So are they accurate? Treestand, put up a picture of that 99.
I really want to kill a deer with ours, but I just bought some new ammo for my A-bolt, and mostly bow and muzzleload hunt.
*SALE* my bad. some day,AJ.. when I learn How?

Never had one it's on my "Bucket List"
If someone had one in 308 in very good condition in the model my Fathers Friend had, I'd trade my 25-06 Remington 700 CDL for it in a heartbeat!
