It is a proven fact, that when a person has no clue where they are going, the tend to drift off to whatever dominate handed side they are. That is why in survival school they teach you to select a point and walk to it, then select another, and do this over and over.
you dont have to be lost to walk to your dominate side . every one has a tendency lost or not to walk that way .just try cruising timber and you will see what i mean .
If lost and you are just wandering to try to find something that looks familiar, you do walk in a circle. ~~~~ If you get lost in an area where you can't see landmarks and weather means you can't see the sun, you need to follow a certain direction using a compass. Stop every few yards and check your heading, you will be amazed at how fast you get turned off the heading you wanted if the sun isnt out. ~~~~ As far as which heading? brother if you didn't plan ahead with a general idea, whew, but unless you are in true wilderness a road probably isnt too far away if you keep from circling; if you hit water you can't cross, change direction by 180 degrees and follow that.
