Q:
Have any of you taken a wilderness first aid class? How worth while is it? the ones i've seen have been expensive, and I am wondering if I will really learn that much more than I could at a regular first aid/cpr class?

If you are in the Wildlife career field, take it. It will open up job opportunities for you, especially in remote wilderness locations. Otherwise, it's probably not worth the money.

I took a Red Cross Wilderness first aid class, and I found it to be very helpful. I also noticed it was expensive, but I found a Boy Scout leader who taught the course so it cost me very little. The problem I have with the class is that the certification expires 2 years after earning it.

Depends, on what you can afford...You can go out and buy a field first aid book. Classes are usually useful to learn how to apply bandages, splints and CPR/Heimlich....If you have young kids, I would take a class but if not I would start with a book, practice some of the techniques and see how comfortable you are.
