i remember that a long time ago, my grandma cut herself while cutting ham for my eggs for breakfast. she was bleeding pretty bad so she taght me something: she put her finger in the coffee tin and covered in powdered coffe. she told me why but it was so long ago i cant remebmer. is coffee a good thing to put on a wound?

The tannins in black tea can make an effective astringent. Some dentists will tell patients to chew on a tea bag to slow or stop bleeding after getting their wisdom teeth pulled. Never heard of coffee having the same effect though.

The granules dry the wound and accelerate clotting...The caffeine causes vasoconstriction which slows the bleeding, and the antioxidants will help prevent infection.
