Is it a good idea to setup a out house system close to camp or a distance away from? Would be more likley to bring in a wild attacker or keep away bear or large game?

i've never seen it atract bears or drive off game but for the sake of being sanitary, put it a little distance from camp. you just don't want to walk too far in the dark and don't set it close to a river or stream.
If its Plumbed in to water it dont mater, if it a hole in the ground the ruel is 100'and a bag of quick lime near by,I have never herd it driving off game?
If you have bear in or near your camp take a shot gun
on your trip to the dumper. (A pee buckit out side your tent or camper works well)
The only down side of having the outhouse too close to the camp is the odor, but if you have well water, you'll want the outhouse placed a greater distance from that.
the smell should keep game away, not attract them.
Do you really have that much to deal with? If it's all men the peeing will just go on in the usual outdoor manner. The other "stuff" everyone seems to manage with a shovel or whatever if it is close to camp. I guess if you have some month-long camp going on or something maybe you need an outhouse alright, but the only concern is polluting well water, I agree with that.

Post up an outhouse a little distance away, however far you feel comfortable walking away from camp in the middle of the night!
