handmade knife, has a guthook a razor blade edge and is made from d2 tool steel. parkerized with hogue rubber grip scales.. has a push through pin set so that if i need a spear i can attach it to a pole... can also attach it to baton for chopping.
Definitely the Buck 100 folder. I have lots of knives, and will bo doubt buy more in the years to come, but I always seem to carry this one during the hunting season.
My present favorite hunting knife is a Smith & Wesson blade fitted by a custom knife maker with a fancy stag handle. It was a gift, and is now one of my prized possessions.
I like gerber and buck but i just got a casexxx with antler handle and Im in love with it. Like rapala fillet knifes, 6in. blade. I can fillet an 8 ounce bream or a 20lb catfish just as easily.
I have too many knives in all brand's, makes and blade lengths to have real favorite . To pick one maker I would go with case knives for their collector value .
Like cooner I have too many for a favorite brand.
I do have a favorite though it's one I made myself. My brother showed me how to use the forge to heatup an old file and then pound it into shape and fasten an antler for a handle. It's real ugly and crude looking but it holds a good edge.
Of course I was about 9 yrs old when I made it.
Congrats on winning the Buck! My favorite keeps changing. I currently carry a Grohmann mini-skinner for field dressing, but would like to upgrade to a Fallkniven TK6. Both of these knives are small or "just enough" for field dressing, but they are not general camp knives. I think most knife makers make one that just about anyone will find useful and like.

Until fairly recently, I had a nice litle Randall Bird and Trout model belt knife with a sambar stag handle. It was destroyed in a house fire.
Buck was, is, and will probably always be a quality knife. You can buy better knives, but you will pay a lot more for them. For my money its Buck.
I use a variety of knives:
For everyday and other common tasks i use kershaws, gerbers and crkts
For field dressing i use either old Case knives(which are great edsge holders)or custom buck knives
For skinning and butchering i use gerbers and last year i began using the knives of alaska brand and they are currently my favorite
