i would have to say chevy. my dad has a truck that is 20 years old with 263 thousand miles on it and it keeps on going. its got quit a rumble but that truck has got us through everything.
babsfish4life, are you being serious right now? Toyota? lol
Chevy for sure though, then Ford. I am not a huge fan of Dodge but the new Rams are pretty cool. The F-150 is a great truck too. But Im a GM guy so im gonna say Silverados and Sierras are best. To each his own I guess. As long as it is not from a foriegn company.
You bet I am serious, unless this guy is looking for a prius. Most reliable trucks and SUV's on the road, not matter what Government Motors (GM) and Ford has blown out of proportion.
Ok once again, not that it's going to help any but apparently some folks disagree with babs saying Toyota as the best answer. Supposedly because you think Toyota is a foreign company and we would be supporting their economy rather than ours. This thought process is not only quite incorrect (for the most part) but complete hypocrisy. Unless of course you don't own a cell phone, television, computer, calculator. Some of you might say "wait, Dell computers are made in the U.S." Plenty of things are built in the U.S., including TOYOTA vehicles!! Cell Phones and Computers have very very very few parts made in the U.S. (things are looking up though. U.S. manufacturing is learning a lot about efficient manufacturing so we can compete with China) Guess where we're learning about efficient (LEAN) manufacturing.. Unless you guessed from TOYOTA themselves, you would be wrong. And as far as the recent quality problem Toyota had, you can rest assured they will fix it quicker than any other manufacturer could. For the record, I would probably go with Ford first right now (price to quality plus availability of parts, etc) GM a close second, and then probably Toyota. And for the record, babs was correct about their trucks and SUV's being the most reliable. And nearly all of their Trucks and SUV's that you or I would purchase, are assembled right here in the USA.
This is the second time I've tried to explain this and I doubt it will have any effect this time either.
Toyota. Notice all these "claims" of faulty brakes and whatnot all started with one screw up. There were never any major complaints before then. I'll drive Toyotas 'til the day the government takes my license for sight deficiency! lol
I will say it. Toyata, Honda, GM, Chrysler, and Ford all make good vehicles. Granted there are a few lemons in each. However, since I grew up in Detroit I will always be a Detroit made automobile guy (even though the UAW and the companies really hurt a lot of people including me)
Ford, Chevy, and Toyota are all good. In that order. But please, for the sake of your wallet, stay away from Dodge! i owned one for about 2 months before the whole thing went to hell. My uncle's turned into a ball of fire less than 100k miles. My girlfriend's dodge stratus has been nothing but a money pit since she got it. I drive a Ford, love it. I drive Chevy at work, great. And i have heard a lot of good things about toyota's from co workers, friends, etc.
I won't get into the "which is better" argument but my last 3 trucks have been Fords, and it's a good bet that the next one will be too. One lasted me 13 years.
MLH got with one key word, old. The older you can find a truck the better. the new chevy 350s knock when cranks them because chevy redesigned a motor that had no problems and put a short shank piston. my cousin has a 92 dodge with the 6 cylinder cummins and he has been offered 15 grand for it and refuses to sell it. newer trucks have all the bells and whistles but those are just more to break and harder to fix when they do break. i go old and reliable and it has worked so far i have owned one truck and it has done everything i need it to do. as for my next truck i will be trying to find a 92 dodge with a cummins 6 cylinder
Hey KyleK, my 13 yr old Ford had rust alright--where the fender was dented from hitting a deer, where a sailboat mast fell on the roof, where some guy bashed my hood 'cause he was afraid to try to bash me, and 13 years of miscellaneous misadventures ... but it never fell apart & still ran like a champ when I sold it. LOL
I've had ford ,toyota and chevy,The last two were chevy. The 99 chevy was a good truck, the 2003 chevy not so good. The toyota trucks were all very good,I will never buy another government owned GM anything. GM is saying they paid the loan back but they don't tell you their paying it off with more government load money.TAX PAYERS MONEY. The uaw drove GM in the ground let the UAW drive them. I hate giving money to people who make twice what I make and hate much of what I love (GOD, CONSTITUTION, GUNS,HUNTING,FREEDOM)
I know, I guess they're not that bad. Its all a matter of opinion. No matter what kind of truck you have as long as you take good care of it it will last a long time.

I am a former mechanic, turned engineer.
For hunting and pulling, I drive Fords because they're dirt cheap and I can make them work.
Once you get past the engine and trans, it's not a Ford anymore anyway.
For most people, the Chevy 350 is the way to go.
A lotta people still like the MoPar 440.
Chevy or Dodge. They both have great features nd power and costs way less than a ford.

babs,
Most reliable? The joke is over, its not funny anymore. You fooled us. You can stop now and say your Chevy or Ford is way better then Toyota.

For me its FORD F250 4+4, Toyata Tundra 4+4.
It all boils down to "smiles" per gallon. Which ever makes you happy to drive.
Ford easy. My 350 does everything plows snow hauls bales and machinery.
I won't get into the "which is better" argument but my last 3 trucks have been Fords, and it's a good bet that the next one will be too. One lasted me 13 years.
Fords do it all.
Ford for anything and everything. +1 to all ford fans.
Fords rust! I would go with chevy myself or toyota.
KyleKortright,
The rust adds character haha
Seems a vehicle of choice for hauling firewood every season are old J series pickups.
