I own a full size ram X-cab. Goes anywhere and everywhere no prob. Want a mini go for a yota or nissan. I prob would have if I could have afforded it. The american trucks are 1/2 the price of the foreign ones! Make sure you get an X-cab or crew. You will always want it if you dont have it!

I am a huge fan of Chevy and GMC. But if I am not going to get a full size truck it would be a Ford Ranger.

i have a Chevy Colorado i love it 20+ mpg goes every where and does everything. i looked at the ford rangers but the old ones get between 13-15mpg, and the new ones only get 14-16mpg so i went with a colorado, and i love it

If you have as much crap as I have, full size is the only option.

Dodge Dakota with a 6' bed and extended cab. get the v-8. the 3.7 is good but a v-8 is more hp and torque.

You can get good aftermarket stuff for it as well and they're dependable.

If you are going old school the old Jeep Comanche, Apache Trucks.

Mitsubishi Raider truck (Dakota only Cheaper and different badges)

I know this won't be popular, but go with a 4x4 double cab Toyota Tacoma. They're unstoppable.

The best truck is your buddy's, especially if he never asks for gas money. My buddy has a Chevy S10.
I wrestled with the dilema of Dodge Dakota quad-cab or Dodge Durango, until I got a used Jeep Grand Cherokee. Love the turning radius.
But these are all consumables. It seems to me that Toyotas, not cockroaches, will inherit the earth, after Nuclear Winter.

I just bought a 2009 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab with the off road package. It's my first Toyota i've had Chevy,, Ford and Gmc. I loved my Gmc but this Toyota rocks. The only down side is the short bed in my opinion.

I have a Nissan Frontier 4x4 crew cab short bed that I have taken down "roads" that I had no business going down, didnt know it until I was there. It is un-stopable and will tow a boat with no problem. I will say that It is a little light in the backend on ice/snow and it should be about 4" higher (i fixd that prob)
