Winner! Congratulations to John G. Fedish, the winner of our first deer tattoo photo contest. Fedish wins a Leatherman Surge multi-tool for sending this shot of some impressive ink. Says Fedish: "This is actually the best buck I've ever taken and I just wanted it tattooed on my arm. I described the last few moments I saw the deer before harvesting it and the artist captured it beautifully." Check out the rest of the gallery to see our other favorites.

I am an avid outdoorsmen as most of you are as well. However, I can't get over the fact that everyone says they are die hard whitetail hunters and spend all this time and money to harvest the buck of their dreams, but apparently don't spend the time and money to research a good artist. Seriously guys, you get what you pay for. You wouldn't be cheap and cut corners when it comes to harvesting that trophy, so why be cheap when replicating it? Spend a little extra to make it look like something you can be proud of in 50 years. Mark comment offensive

First I want to Thank the folks at Field & Stream for selecting my Tat #1. I would also like to Thank everyone for the words of pleasure in seeing my tat along with everyone else's. The other comments will go without comment, to each his own . This Tat ,along with another of a couple of wolves I have, is just my little way of showing my pleasure and passion for the wildlife we all so much love to be a part of in someway or another. Being part of what Mother nature has given us to hunt, view or photgraph is a privledge to say the least. To honor her in this way is just a little way to Thank her and God not only of wondeful memories but of the true Slendor and Beauty of the wildlife we all chase , dream of and God willing get to Harvest. Thanks to all and I wish everyone to be safe and well while out doing what we all enjoy in some way or another, John. Mark comment offensive

While some of you may have had good reason, those are some of the worst tattoos I have ever seen. If somebody inked my body with a hack job like that, I would burn their shop down! Now the young lady with the tramp stamp in #10 is another story... Mark comment offensive

I think it's awesome that these 65 men and women endured some serious discomfort in order to show their pride and commitment to whitetail deer hunting. It's sad so many of you have missed the focus of this contest. It's about giving credit to the serious hunters out there who are very proud of their ink, and the stories that lead up to their time spent in the chair. So to those of you bearing the above ink, rock on! You are what deer hunting is all about. Mark comment offensive

Very obvious why the winner was selected. Although it is a great tatoo, not much competition. I'm glad my artist does work 100% better than 90% of these ink smear-jobs. Most look like they were done by amateurs or 3-year-olds. Luckily for most of you, there are extremely talented artists that specialize in cover-ups!! Mark comment offensive

I got my first at age 46 and my second two days ago. Mid life crisis...maybe, but I've always wanted one. Both are hunting themes. My first is an indian raising a bow to a bear in the clouds. I've never been a fan of tattoos - outside of earned stuff like USMC, sailors, etc - but after seeing your spread, I've changed my mind. I've never seen such a bunch of skinny, pale, hairless arms and backs in my life as we have here in this line-up of redneck art. If I were to have a "tat" done on my bod, I'd have it inked on one of my butt-cheeks ... neither of which is as weak-looking, white-looking, or hairless-looking as this bunch of girlymen limbs and torsos. Talk about some low-brow adornment. The only good-looking one is the one above that gal's butt-crack in photo 10 ... and it ain't the deer tat that looks good! Mark comment offensive

Amazing to me that anti-hunters even exist. Our soldiers are defending our country, and all they can worry about is Bambi being killed. Hey Gene - don't you know that folks always make fun of stuff they don't understand or that they are too "yeller" to do themselves? Look that up in the dictionary and I'll bet you'll find Big Harry's mug beside it. :) And yes, harvesting deer is the proper term. Good hunters harvest animals. A territory or plot of land can only hold so many, so good game management is necessary. -g- Mark comment offensive
