Minn Kota Fortrex ($1,120–$1,370)
THE LOWDOWN The new foot-controlled Fortrex, designed for bow installations on bass boats, has an extruded-aluminum mounting arm that gives greater rigidity when the motor is deployed in the water, which means fewer rattles. An internal sonar transducer is optional. The Fortrex comes in shaft lengths to 62 inches; 80 or 101 pounds of thrust; 24- or 36-volt only.
HITS The mounting arm should extend the unit’s life.
MISSES It’s expensive, and there’s no 12-volt version.
WHO SHOULD BUY Deep-pocketed boat owners.
