Minn Kota RipTide ($290–$710)

THE LOWDOWN These are the most user-friendly clamp-on transom-mounts I’ve seen. The semicircular mounting bracket allows the motor to swivel easily up from or into the water. With sealed internal electronics, and various stainless-steel parts, the RipTide is ready for saltwater. There are models in 12-, 24-, or 36-volt versions with thrust ratings up to 101 pounds and shafts as long as 52 inches.
HITS The new mounting bracket is a huge plus.
MISSES There’s no internal sonar-transducer option.
WHO SHOULD BUY Saltwater skiff anglers.
