The proverbial cat-and-dog war seemed to bring out the best in your caption writing abilities. But before we crown a winner let me first thank Pam Kadlec of Just Ducky Kennels who gave us the hilarious shot of a couple of Boykins “treeing” her cat. Or, as Pam put it—a photo of her cat tormenting her Boykins.
So last post I was worked up about duck season and the video of that unbelievable Lab. And I still am. But a friend recently me sent the below image of his dove field along with an invite to come hunt it the first week of the season, which opens September 5 here in South Carolina.
There are 100 days until the opening of duck season in South Carolina. If the incoming gear catalogs haven’t inspired you then here’s a video that will do just that. My friend and avid gun dogger, Wes Chester, showed it to me yesterday, and I’ve watched it at least three times. Why? Because I’m awed by the Lab’s passion, drive, and skill. The trainer was obviously no slouch, either.
Okay, so the following are a few words I never thought I’d use in a sentence on the Man’s Best Friend blog: “the Kinks and hunting dogs.” But recently I stumbled on this video of the Kinks’ classic, “Sunny Afternoon,” and was fairly amused by the hunting dogs piling out of the vehicle during the first few seconds of the clip.
I’m not much of a cat person, but I found the above photo quite funny. It was taken by Pam Kadlec of Just Ducky Kennels. In addition to her dog training skills, Kadlec is also an excellent photographer. (Check out her website for some great dog images.) She captured the pic at her kennels and it needs your editorial touch.
I know bird season is approaching when the gun dog catalogs start arriving. And to be honest, I love looking at them all. But I have settled on a few that are my go to shops when I need something for Pritch—or myself. (For the record, I have no affiliations with the below shops nor do I receive discounts from them.)
Very sad news out of Chicago. According to a report on CNN, seven dogs died yesterday after an American Airlines flight from Tulsa, Okla., to O’Hare International. It has been reported that the animals looked lethargic when they were removed from the plane, so ramp workers tried to cool them off. When that didn’t help, the dogs were sent to a Vet’s office where they died. (All of the dogs were bound for different locations.)
There were a total of 14 dogs on the flight. There have been no reported problems with the remaining dogs.
One of the many things I’ve learned from professional dog trainers is the use of fewer commands to get more done. Call it command economy. Here’s an example:
Don’t ask me why, but I found this video clip to be a bit mesmerizing. Apparently I’m not alone, as the video seems to have gone viral. Consider it the strangest 13 seconds of your Monday. Enjoy.
