Louisiana Man Kills Wife Over Fishing

I usually have something flip thing to say. But not here. This is a senseless killing and a devastating story, especially considering there was a child involved.
Ronald Ivan Carper Jr. pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the strangulation and stabbing death of his wife. The two had been arguing over Carper going fishing.
[Ninth] Judicial District Judge Thomas Yeager handed down the 40-year sentence on Monday. . . .
Carper . . . reportedly called 911 and told an operator that he had killed his wife, authorities reported. . . . [He] showed officers inside the house, where they found the victim's body on the sofa. . . . Also inside the house was a 9-month-old child asleep in the next room.

I have something flip to say. Fishing is over for this guy now.
Deeper issues than fishing - now the child has no parents...sounds like it might be better off without it's Dad. That is truly sad.
Know that is messed up. This guy has some serious problems!
I highly doubt this was "just" about fishing. These two have probably been going @ it for as long as they've been together and he just snapped.
It's a shame, but hopefully the child will be raised in a home that domestic violence isn't the norm and "dad" will rot in jail.

Horrible, I guess he has 40 years to ponder a moments bad decision.
manslaughter? Looks like first he strangled her and then came back and stabbed her. That's at least 2nd degree murder!
total short sightedness. she may have been keeping him from going fishing then but the state will be keeping him from fishing for a hell of a lot longer. the above post was right though, it may have crossed our minds from time to time when a trip gets sidelined cause of the old lady but there is no way this was only about fishing
My thoughts as well, JP-
This murder isn't just about fishing,and this guy obviously has a serious anger problem. He is in need of mental health therapy---too bad he didn't get it before he murdered his wife!
SAD VERY SAD!
i am speachless also...thats crazy
That guy should of just listened to his wife... no more fishing for him now. He just blew his carp fishing for the rest of his life.
I would be willing to bet that was not the first time police were called to that house. This guy was definately unstable to begin with.
I've never understood a man's willingness to impose his will on a weaker woman and some times with disastrous results. I hear about these sorts of domestic violence on the news daily. To protect a woman with every bit of strength I have I understand, but to beat and destroy simply because you can!!!
People that snap like that or are just plain evil give not only outdoorsmen a bad name but the human race in general.
The only thing he is going to be fishing for now is soap on a rope and rec time behind bars.
This guy is mental. How do you kill someone over a fishing argument? I feel bad for all of their family and friends.
Now I know there are some die hard fisherman out there, but thats a little overboard.
Maybe I'm a bit crazy about the sport,but not like this.So sorry to her friends and family.
