“Mr. Buck” Poacher Claims Self-Defense, Then Pleads Guilty
Yesterday, 27-year-old Brandon Eugene Gregory pleaded guilty to entering a Houston wildlife sanctuary and beheading a tame deer known as “Mr. Buck.” He did not originally claim full responsibility, however.
From the Houston Press’ Hair Balls blog:
Brandon Eugene Gregory [originally] claimed that the beheading was done in self-defense after Mr. Buck attacked him, despite the fact that a) Gregory showed up with bolt cutters and a bone saw, b) he'd used those bolt cutters to slice his way in through the exhibit's fence, c) Mr. Buck was very tame, child-friendly, and used to interacting with people, while d) Gregory possesses the sort of haunted thousand-yard stare usually reserved for ex-KGB assassins.
Hair Balls was able to think of no less than ten slightly less. . . insane excuses he could have used.

This is gut is definitely not all there! Lets just say it was in self defense, so why did he have to cut off the head? He will be in a heap of trouble over this im sure.
you cant fix stupid, but you should remove it from the gene pool .
Poachers are sorry pieces of crap who spit in the face of real hunters as they steal our natural resources and those of future generations. Real hunters follow rules while poachers think laws and rules are for saps and not them. How about some real justice? HANG 'EM! They don't care about anyone but themselves so why should we care what happens to them? Obviously the slaps on the hands that they have been getting isn't working. All for the braggin rights of some antlers!
SELF DEFENSE? How stupid. He wouldn't have had to defend himself if he wasn't ilegally there.
I can think of a number of ways to deal with his kind. All include giving him the same chance he gave the animal.....

If he had been doing Tameshigiri with a katana, he might have at least gotten points for style but breaking in a nd slaughtering a privately owned tame deer that was a public exibit is quadruple Bad. I'm sure the Texan will nail his hide to the wall though...
What an idiot hes so lazy he cant even illegally kill animals that arent in a cage.
It is people like this that bring bad light onto the rest of us. Hopefully he pays dearly.

This guy ain't seen the football since the kickoff.
Did he kill the deer with the bone saw then? It seems sort of difficult to behead a live deer with only a bone saw and pliers. All the same, its idiots like these that make it so much harder to win the public image as hunters. The average person doesn't see the difference between poachers and hunters.
I have heard quite a bit of excuses but this one ranks in my top 5. I take it that he decapitated the deer to show the officers what deer was responsible for charging him...
