Study: Sport Fishing for Tarpon and Bonefish Brings Big Money to Florida Keys
By CJ Lotz

Recreational sport fishing of bonefish, tarpon, and permit in the Florida Keys brings in about $427 million annually, according to a study commissioned by the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust.
The study says fishing has provided a huge economic boost for jobs and taxes in the state, and the Trust is citing the survey as an example of why fish conservation efforts are so important in Florida.
“The economic data from this and similar studies reinforces the importance of these recreational fisheries to the overall economic health of the state and even the region,” said Dr. Aaron Adams, director of operations at the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust.

I believe it. I have a friend who guides the Chesapeake in the summer and south Florida in the winter. I'm sure lots of guides do the same and keep the money from fishing tourists flowing.
