Bigfoot Hunters Get Scared, Shoot Friend During ‘Bigfoot Hunt’

A hunt for Bigfoot in a rural area outside Tulsa, Okla., last Saturday night ended with three arrests after one man, Omar Pineda, heard a “barking noise,” got scared, and accidentally shot his friend in the back.

The Bigfoot hunters drove the injured man to a local gas station, called 911, and waited for emergency responders to take him to the hospital where he is recovering, Tulsa CBS affiliate KOTV reports.

Deputies arrested Pineda for reckless conduct with a firearm and obstruction, and Pineda’s wife for obstruction after she told police someone else shot at her husband and his friend. Pineda’s father-in-law, Perry Don James, a convicted felon, panicked and tossed the gun into a pond on the property. Police arrested him for felon in possession of a firearm and destruction of evidence.

“If [they] had just been factual, upfront and truthful with us and explained that this was truly an accident, as strange as it might sound, we would have went ahead and investigated and probably nobody would have [gone] to jail,” Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said.
