Name the Species, Win a Prize
By Kirk Deeter

Name the Species, Win a Prize
I'm in a really good mood. And when I'm in a good mood, I give stuff away...
Here's the deal: Name this fish subspecies exactly. ("Trout" isn't going to cut it.) I'll take all the correct answers, put them in a hat, and pull a winner. This winner shall receive a Cloudveil Upstream Mesh Fishing Vest (worth $120). The vest I have is size medium... if that won't fit you or someone you know, you can have your own contest, and award it to someone else.
Good luck.

Almost completely positive
I honestly hate to join the band-wagon but I'm almost positive that it is a a Yellowstone Cutty. But, my measley 16 years in the woods and on the water could be leading me in the wrong direction.

lahontan cutthroat
In case spelling counts. This is a Snake River Fine-Spotted Cutthroat Trout. Subspecies: Oncorhynchus Clarki Behnkei
Yellowstone Cutt. Final answer. Very yellow fin - but those are gone. Cutbow is a good guess.
Snake River Cut and I'm feeling lucky.
Yellowstone cutthroat from where I sit because of the conspicuous concentrating of spots towards the caudal fin and the paler belly. (If I'm pulled form the hat, assuming I'm correct, I'd take the net and give the vest to your kid. Not a bribe, just in case.)
Can't see it well. The color on the gill plates doesn't look right, can't see the adipose, can't see for sure but it looks like too many spots on the tail; the body spotting doesn't look quite right. The jaw and body look German brown; that's not a subspecific designation but guess it'll have to do. :-) (Where is that?)
Tough call, but I`ll go with Lahonton cutthroat
