And so begins my winter-time obsession with fish pron. Curses!
So that's the secret fly. A clouser minnow with legs. I'll have to start throwing that next spring when things heat up again. At the end of steelhead season we catch a lot on sucker spawn in the rivers. Fun. Fun. Fun. I call'em bronze rockets.
It's been a few seasons since Ive had a carp on my line.Never have flyfished for them, they were mostly accidental catches while chanelcat fishing on the Red River in Manitoba.

This is my neighborhood fish! On the water at 5:30, just before the sun comes up, waiting for the perfect moment. Egan Headstand in Chartruesse brings them to hand. For all who scoff at the carp tell me where you live and I'll have the fight on the line. You're missing one of the great local game fish from the common carp to the rarer Mirror... I've got them all right in town.

Welcome to the site and thank you for your input. We appreciate any comment regardless of the direction. Maybe sometime next summer we can meet at a Trout Unlimited banquet but I have to warn you I'll almost certainly drink way too much which leads dropping a huge amount of cash in the raffles and auctions. I really don't mind though because it all goes to a good cause. How about we meet at the banks of the Mad River here in Ohio where our steering comittee works with local farmers in an attempt to better the health of the stream. Maybe I'll meet you at one of our fly fishing club meetings where you will often find us teaching kids how to fish or putting on senior citizen fishing derbys. You might just find me right down the road picking up trash along the side of a stream or maybe in California doing the same. Speaking of which do you know how expensive out of state fishing licenses are? I currently have five in my pocket. I don't mind though becuase it all goes to a good cause. The items that I mention are for 2009 only. I could go on and on. Oh, what have you done for the fish and community lately?
Carp fishing rocks! Buckhunter, nice response to ss. BTW, I do imagine that getting hooked and brought to shore sure isn't the highlight of a carp's day, but at least when I let him go he won't be losing any sleep at nite regarding mortgages, unemployment, wars, etc. Hey, we all have to deal w/ some hardships in life and if getting caught now and then is the worst thing that happens in that big ol' fat carps life, then he's the one who's got it made!

That place looks very very familiar, and for the ss guy if you cant say something nice dont come on to the site.
Buck, great response to SS, because if we get rabid and go after them, what example of a fisherman or hunter are we setting? We are just proving that we are "Terrible" people to them. Now I'm not saying I am a bad person, but if someone ever does crap like that to me in public you can call the cops and they go to jail for harassment of a hunter or fisherman. You don't have to deal with them anymore.
i hooked a carp on a fly last year and was not ready for the fight. took a while but got it in. i did apoligize for hooking him in the mouth and ruining his day before i let him go. i guess it's too late though. i've ruined the world as we know it. guess i need to go buy some more fishing licscences, habitat stamps, hunting liscences, gear, bait and ammo so i can try to bring the fish and wildlife back from the brink that i put them in. in the meantime, ss can keep company with the hsus while they kill the animals they imprison daily while begging for more money instead of earning it!

To everyone commenting on my comments. I hope these made u very mad. U see I wanted to do this. It just displays how redneck and stupid u all are. Little do u know it, but u are my puppets and u are doing exactly what i want u to do. So continue to dance puppets. You're pathetic.
Oh and to Buck...whatever i forget, i wouldn't be caught dead near one of those hillbilly redneck conventions where u and all ur "buddies" stand around drink beer and lie about fish u "caught" so.....Thanks:)

No one is "attempting to bring you down", you do that your self when you name call. We do not mind discussing issues with anyone, but you are not discussing anything.
Buckhunter offered an olive branch, and you insulted a fine organization that brought much good to this country. My comment was a jest, your response confirmed it. From time to time children of all ages come to these sites to mock, and that is what you have done. You will be gone soon and we will continue.
Man,them carp kick my butt when I got me a catfish rod,I can't imagine how long it would take me to land one on a fly rod!
ss why do people like you come on this site make a profile and just harass us and if you are serious about the puppet thing then you need to get a life
me and my friends go fishing for carp in a small creek by my house about once a week. we use corn for bait on lite tackle. my personal best is a 19 lber on 8 lb test
Poor mans bone fish, haha. Fly fishing for carp is awesome. They are very powerful on a fly rod. I had one on yesterday, caught off a local dam I fish when its warm. I think what fascinates me about carp is there mysteriousness. The water is often murky and you dont know where they might be lingering. I often think I am hooked up to a log or a fat snapping turtle only to find my line zipping off of my spool.
