So from your judgment, is a steelhead a rainbow? I think a steelhead is a rainbow trout, but a rainbow is not necessarily a steelhead. What was the call on that?
babs,
well that's a tough one... I agree that a steelhead is a rainbow, but not the other way around. For the purpose of this contest, steelhead had to be answered correctly.
Congrats to everyone that got those right, especially mop4pom. Was tough, but a lot of fun!
Oh man, I coulda done very well at this. :/
Congrats Mop4Pom I really need an identification cart.
must have missed this one. congrats
Steelhead = Onychorhynchus mykiss
Rainbow trout = Salmo gairdneri
I only asked the question because genetically they are the same, but have different habits. Apparently drastic enough habits to have different scientific names.
woodstock, O. Mykiss is a rainbow trout, S. gairdneri hasn't been used in over 30 years. it's not where they go or what they look like it's genetics.
I stand corrected.
