Surface Film II: Fly Fishing Gallery Goes Live on the Web
By Tim Romano
For the second year in a row The Greenbacks of Colorado Trout Unlimited put on a very successful gallery show in Denver, Colorado called "Surface Film" back in February.
Surface Film showcases top professional fly-fishing photographers from around the country, highlighting their passion for fishing and incredible creativity. Sponsored by Trout Unlimited and run by the Greenbacks of TU, it includes a gallery showing at Anthology Fine Art, and new this year -- online viewing and print purchasing via MidCurrent, as well as a spread in TROUT Magazine prominently featuring the best-in-show and runner-up.
I've curated the show the past two years and am really excited to be able to show the work of all our incredibly talented photographers to the masses outside of Denver with an online gallery.
The show helped sustain fly fishing by raising thousands of dollars directly for the Greenbacks. The Greenbacks are a group of TU members developing new ways to engage the next generation of passionate anglers and cold water conservationists by holding events such as movie premiers, youth education, and even things as simple as happy hours.
So, if you've been dying to see this year's collection of images or want to purchase a print, head on over the the Surface Film II online gallery and let me know what you think. There's a slide show and individual stories about each one of the photographs shown.
