Slide Show: Bristol Bay, Alaska
By Tim Romano
Last week I had the privilege and honor of being the "artist in residence" at the Bristol Bay Lodge on Lake Aleknagik in Alaska. Lodge manager Steve Laurent and guide/painter Bob White invited me up for the week to shoot photos, fish, and answer photography questions if asked. All I was required to do was present a slide show at the end of my time at the lodge.
It was an amazing week. The weather couldn't have been better, the guides and lodge staff were outstanding, and the fishing was incredible. I've just started editing the 7,000 or so images, but could not help but share this first cursory edit. As I plow through more of the images I'll continue updating this slide show, and bring you more of one of the last great salmon strongholds on earth. For more on this amazing area and what you can do to protect it for future generations visit savebristolbay.org.

Must be some demon squirrels there.
Great pics. Someone needs to do something about all that pristine wilderness. Would be a great place to plunder and pillage....or maybe preserve I guess.
Amazing as always!
I foresee some great caption contests from some of those photos! Nice work as always Tim.
I'm on board with the hanging squirrel.. I've been on a Squirrel relocation project here for months... my method is a little less permanent....maybe I should try the Alaskan Necktie.
The Squirrel is an Alaskan delicacy. ;) Thanks all for the compliments.
Great job! Squirrel delicacy...oxymoron. Other than that LOVE all the photos. Well done again.
Sayfu cat got your tongue?
I want to move there!
I hope that squirrel was given a fair trial.
Great pics Tim.
A wonderful set of photos that really captures that part of the world...I spent the past three seasons as the cook at a lodge two lakes up the system from Aleknagik, cooking for fly anglers and moose and brown bear hunters. I had to pass on this year in order to raise a new gun dog for this fall, and make a trip to my ancestral homeland, Scotland. I miss Alaska like crazy, it not only gets under your skin, it gets in your blood. It is a constant reminder of just how insignificant we are on the natural earth-
