Giant Eyeball Found on FL Beach May Belong to Swordfish
By Tim Romano

File this bit of news in the "We're gonna need a bigger boat" category. Oh, and a 16 weight!
After a bit of speculation on what species this giant eyeball might belong to—after it washed up on Pompano Beach in Florida last week—authorities believe it came from a swordfish, nbcnews.com reports. Scientists said the straight-line cuts on the eyeball suggest it was freshly removed from the head and thrown overboard. Genetic testing will be conducted to confirm the identity.
I can tell you one thing: I'm fairly confident that nothing in my fly rod arsenal would tame the beast that this eyeball belongs to. Personally, I'd have the thing mounted. Then I would tell fish tales to my grandkids about it. I know, a little weird...
I'm curious, what would you do with it if you found this thing on the beach?

Whew! I was afraid it came from Zooey Deschanel.
treelimit,
damn - that's funny. To bad we're not talking caption contest here...
Thanks, Tim; I gave it a shot in the G.Loomis contest too! (Plus, I live about an hour and a half from the Salmon River in Pulaski-- wink, wink!)
i grew up where the kraken has been depicted in maps for 1800 years and my dads best friend saw it fishing squid for bait.. it was 50 feet long and turned from whitish to red in less than a second and he was glad to live to tell the tale since he was in a 33 foot wooden fishing boat ;)
now yall call me crazy fo sure :P
I think I read somewhere that it had knife marks on it where someone seemed to have cut it out.
Little do the scientists know that somewhere there is a swordfish terrified from what he's seeing!
Bread it and fry it what else?
I'd prolly do,the creepy science thing and put it in a jar and preserve it. I'd prolly put it humorous spots like next to dads pickled eggs in the fridge!
