Darryl Worley: Singer, Angler, Hunter and One Of The Good Guys
by Phil Bourjaily
One of the other guests in the Texas turkey camp where I hunted was singer Darryl Worley, who brought his guitar and did some picking at night.
Besides being a nice guy, being a genuine authority on coon hunting and catfishing, and having several hit records, Worley is devoted to entertaining our men and women in uniform. His next stop after Texas was South Korea, as seen in the video below.
That was Worley’s second trip to Korea. As he pointed out, “Our troops there are kind of forgotten, but that war never ended.” He and his band have also made nine trips to entertain the troops in the Middle East. He told me he has played in every FOB in Iraq and Afghanistan, including some it would have been much safer not to visit.
Anyway, I just thought you would like to know that Darryl Worley is one of the good guys.

Met Mr. Worley while I was in Iraq. Didnt get to see the show as I was on security but had the chance to talk with him after and he is as nice as they come. He is definitaly one of the good guys.
FLAT OUT AWESOME!
Traveling to those parts of the world isn't easy, in fact it's one major pain in the butt and the logistics for him? WOW,isn't easy by any means!!
Kunsan AB, been dar, dun dat!
During an exercise, a couple North Korean Fighters wanted to play with one of our F15’s. There wasn’t any aggression; they just wanted to see how close they can get to take a picture of each other.
Darn fine singer and a good man. They should play his "Have You Forgotten" EVERY night before the 11 o'clock news!
Just in case you have forgotten...

Darryl Worley, hometown: Lovely Savannah, Tn. Population:
5612, SALUTE!
We need another Bob Hope to entertain the troops, bless his heart.
Love his song, "Ya'll can keep the Change".
Thanks, Phil
What a super guy!!! Anybody heard of Sean Penn or any of the other liberal celebrities entertaining our troops?
Didn't think so.
Cool story Phil, thanks, and God Bless our troops!
I live just north of Nashville to get away from the crack dealers and projects in the city and I can tell you that almost all of the country artists are patriotic and give huge amounts of money away. Taylor Swift went to our high school and she painted our football bleachers, put in a new track, upgraded the auditorium and spent a fortune on the sound system for the school. She also gave a million dollars when the flood came through to rebuild the lakeside parks... God Bless America.
Good article Phil, I have been telling people for years how nice Darryl is. I met him back in Jan. of 05 when i was at camp victory for 2 weeks for task force iron claw. It was him, Mark Wills, Al Franken, the blonde woman from JAG, and SMA Preston. But Darryl was the nicest, he stayed until every last soldier came through, stood to shake everyone's hand, and thanked them. By the way that guy is like 7ft tall. But its nice to see someone else write about him.
