Vincent Hancock Wins Back to Back Gold in Skeet
By Phil Bourjaily
Team USA’s Vincent Hancock became the first Olympic shooter ever to win back to back gold medals in International Skeet. He won his first as a teenager in 2008, and shot 148x150 to best the field again this time around.
Hancock, like almost every Team USA shooter I have met, is polite, well-mannered and a credit to the United States. I had the chance to interview him at SHOT 2011. Here at Field & Stream, we can say we knew Vince Hancock way back when . . . back when he was only a one-time record setting gold medalist in skeet.

Congratulations! A great representative of the shooting sports and our country in one package!
I was watching the trap shooters yesterday and some of them appeared to be resting the stock on their chest and not in the shoulder pocket. were my eyes decieving me or is that the way olympic trap shooters mount the gun??
Not bad results for Team USA in Skeet this time around! :-)
Great shooting by all. I am glad a lot of it was televised. One sour note I read where the Brits banned anyone under 18 from attending.
But, you can smoke if you're aged 16...as long as someone else buys them for you.
England is a funky place.
@ deadeyedick - International Skeet rules require that shooters start with the toe of the stock held at around hip level. A marker tape on the shooter's vest indicates the exact location. This is one of several changes that make the International game much more difficult than our American version.
This is great for the USA and Great for the Shooting Sports!!!! Good job Vince Hancock!
Thank you much, straightshooter. I was watching the trap shooters so if you know some of the rules please comment so we can all share in your expertise.
I think that the minimalist television coverage of the shooting events is a disgrace. Congratulations to Vince Hancock on a job well done.
