Wild Turkey Escapes Authorities
By Dave Hurteau
From The Jersey Journal:
A wild turkey created quite a stir in Downtown Jersey City today when it appeared at Eighth and Monmouth streets. . . .
[O]fficers tried to catch the bird with a net, but that didn't work.
Finally, the cops popped the bird with a tranquilizer dart, but before the effects set in, the turkey scampered into the woods behind Dickinson High School, witnesses said.

I would have loved to see this in person. Hopefully someone caught it on tape and puts it on youtube!
Idiots. A turkey's feathers is like a bullet-proof vest. Too light of a shot and the shots won't penetrate flesh. The same thing probably happened with the tranquilizer dart. The needle probably wasn't long enough to get into flesh and so the turkey probably just ran or flew off.
I dont understand why the needed to try and tranqualize the bird in the first place? Its not like the turkey was going to eat all the children in the town and that they needed to save all humanity from this killer turkey.
Sounds like it could have been a nice turkey dinner... what is with all these stories of wild animals causing trouble for cops?... I bet Peta will start blaming that on us too.
